High School Girls Team of the Week: Rolling Meadows

The Chicago Sky named the Rolling Meadows High School Girls Basketball team the High School Girls Team of the Week for the week of Dec. 15 for its excellence on and off the basketball court.

The Rolling Meadows High School Girls Basketball team is off to its hottest start in five years. Theyre currently 8-1 overall and have already earned two conference wins and a tournament championship. The Mustangs went winless in conference the previous five seasons making the victories over Prospect High School and Fremd even bigger for the program. Rolling Meadows won its first five games as part of the Mundelein Thanksgiving Tournament, also winning the tournament championship over host Mundelein.

Off the court, the girls efforts equal what they put forth on the court. Each season the girls varsity basketball team visits two local elementary schools and reads to students in kindergarten through third grade. This year the players are going to Westgate Elementary and Kimball Hill Elementary schools. The players, accompanied by the school mascot and in uniform, promote reading and healthy life choices including exercise, eating healthy and avoiding drugs. Rolling Meadows High School is located at 2901 W. Central Rd. in Rolling Meadows, IL.

The Rolling Meadows High School Girls Basketball Team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to a 2011 Sky regular season home game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the worlds best female basketball players. They will meet and talk to Sky players and coaches before the game and be honored on the Sky court during the game. They will also have the Sky experience brought to one of their home games.

The Sky will be recognizing one High School Girls basketball team each week throughout the 2010-11 basketball season as part of its High School Girls Team of the Week program.
