High School Girls Team of the Week: Elk Grove

The Chicago Sky named the Elk Grove High School Girls Basketball team the High School Girls Team of the Week for the week of Nov. 24 for its excellence on and off the basketball court.

Coming off a 20-win season in 2009-10, Elk Grove is off to another strong start in 2010-11. The Grenadiers currently boast a 3-1 record. Their most decisive win of the season came in their season opener when the Grens defeated Rockford Jefferson 41-16.

Off the court the Elk Grove girls basketball program has participated in a variety of community service projects, one of which is volunteering at the Special Olympics Holiday Basketball Tournament last year and again this December. This years tournament starts on Dec. 5. The Grenadiers will volunteer as referees, time keepers and score keepers to help make the tournament a success.

The Elk Grove Girls Basketball Team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to a 2011 Sky regular season home game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the worlds best female basketball players. They will meet and talk to Sky players and coaches before the game and be honored on the Sky court during the game. They will also have the Sky experience brought to one of their home games.

The Sky will be recognizing one High School Girls basketball team each week throughout the 2010-11 basketball season as part of its High School Girls Team of the Week program.
