Gospel Night with the Chicago Sky Features Marvin Sapp

The Chicago Sky announced today it will host a night of gospel, family, faith and fun on Sunday, July 1st, in a home game at Allstate Arena against the Atlanta Dream. The Chicago Sky Gospel Night, which starts at 5:00 p.m., will showcase several of Chicagolands most talented church choirs and feature gospel superstar Marvin Sapp, who will perform postgame.

Sapp, a rising recording artist who doubles as a pastor in his hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is widely known for his 2007 single, Never Would Have Made It.. The song, which became the first Gospel single to reach 1 million digital downloads, outlasted hits by The Beatles and Elvis Presley as the No. 1 radio song for 43 weeks. The eight-time Grammy Award-nominated artist first cultivated his talents by singing in church congregations at the age of 4. He has been a respected Gospel artist for two decades including a five-year stint with the successful group Commissioned.

"I am so very excited to be part of the 2012 Chicago Sky Gospel Night, noted Sapp. It is indeed going to be a phenomenal event of joyous praise and worship through music. I am so very glad that I will be able to share the gift of Gospel music with the WNBA and the city of Chicago!! I hope to see your face in the place. Grace and Peace."

In addition to Sapp, the inaugural event will include several of Chicagolands most talented church choirs, who will serenade Sky fans throughout the evening. Gospel lovers can expect riveting and joyful music from when they first arrive at the arena until they leave the building including a special halftime ceremony and throughout the concourse.

Single-game tickets start at $15 and include entry into the Skys game against Atlanta at 5 p.m. as well as Sapps performance, which will follow immediately afterward. For groups of 10 or more, tickets range from $10 to $35 per person.
