This is the first Player of the Month award for Fowles in 2013 and the third of her career (August, 2011 and May, 2012).
Fowles was active in helping the Chicago Sky move to the top of the Eastern Conference (12-5). During her five game appearances in July, she averaged 17.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. Fowles topped the league in rebounds, field goal percentage (.66) and blocks.
For her outstanding performance the week of July 8-14, Fowles was named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week. On July 10, Fowles achieved her sixth double-double of the season, scoring 26 points and taking down 18 rebounds.
Fowles maintained her dominance in the paint throughout the month, marking 15 points against the Liberty on July 20 and an impressive 21 points against the Mystics on July 24.
Candace Parker from the Los Angeles Sparks was named WNBA Western Conference Player of the Month for the month of July.
