I just wanted to check in with all of you, and let you know what I have been up to since the season ended. I just got back from Vegas on Sunday night. I went to Vegas for the USA Basketball Mini-Camp. There were 33 athletes invited and from this 33 a roster of 12 will be selected to compete in the 2014 World Championships. Included in the list of 33 invitees were my Sky teammates Sylvia and Courtney. It was great to experience this mini-camp with my two teammates.
My time in Las Vegas was an incredible experience. It was awesome to be able to be on the court competing with and against the best womens basketball players in the world. I am extremely excited about the opportunity to be a part of Team USA for the World Championships and beyond. To me, there is no greater honor than being able to use your talent to compete and represent your country.
While I was in Nevada, I was able to meet the women that I competed against for my entire rookie season. It was great to be able to spend time on and off the court with all of the players that were invited. Some of the players are still competing at the college level while others are seasoned veterans of the WNBA.
One of the most amazing things about this group is that we were able to compete intensely against each other when it was necessary but we were also able to come together as a whole. I think that the level of camaraderie that comes along with playing together to represent your country is something that I will only experience when I am a part of USA Basketball. I am so excited for the opportunities that lie ahead for me with Team USA.
