Chicago Sky Names Resurrection Prep High SchoolAction Floor Systems High School Team of the Week

Last season, the Bandits won the 4A regional championship and advanced to sectionals, where they lost to Main South by four in the final minuets. The team from the all-girls Catholic school made up of four seniors, four juniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen are eager to accomplish their goal of winning another regional championship and make a run in the state playoffs.

Currently the Bandits are 6-5 this season, and team chemistry allows the girls to manage to win even without all their original starters. Star players, Anne Larson and Kelly Barzowski, fell to injury and may not return to the lineup all season. Larson, a senior, suffered a broken finger in the fourth game of the year against Johnsberg High School and Barzowski, a junior, suffered a torn ACL prior to the start of the season.

These two girls are the true example of sportsmanship, Lou Marrese, Resurrections Athletic Director said. The two attend every practice and game, mentoring and motivating the team to be the best they can be.

The teams energy and drive to be the very best on the court, is a direct result of their efforts off it. The girls assist with Open Houses, giving tours and interacting with future students and their families. Also, the entire team volunteers their time running summer basketball programs for children ages 7 to 12.

As an Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to a 2012 Sky regular season home game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the worlds best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognize their accomplishments.

The Sky will recognize a new High School Team of the Week award winner every week until February 17, 2012. To nominate a team for the Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week, click here. The Sky will accept nominations from parents, coaches, faculty members, and players.
