Chicago Sky Names Foreman High School Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week

Not many would consider a current record of 6-14 a successful season, but considering what the Foreman High School varsity girls basketball team has gone through in the last seven years, its more than a success, its a triumph. In the last seven seasons the varsity girls basketball has averaged 2 wins a year and has struggled to score over 18 points a game. However, with a new coach and a rigorous practice routine the team has averaged almost 40 points a game and has a chance to make the post season with four games left to play. Led by a group of veteran seniors the Hornets have to win two of their last four games and they will do something the school has not done in over a decademake the playoffs. That is why the Chicago Sky has named Foreman High School varsity girls basketball team as this weeks 2011-2012 Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week.

Our motto this season is only the strong survive, said coach Antonio Gaddis. We have grown up so much this year and Im so proud of these girls. Anything can happen in these last four games. We have a great group of seniors leading the way for us and they are fantastic role models for the younger kids.

Off the court, the girls efforts equal what they put forth on the court. As a team, they are averaging a solid 3.0 GPA and were some of the first students to finish their service hours required for each student by the school each year. During their service hours the team volunteered at soap kitchens, churches and helped to feed the homeless. This summer the team plans on doing even more to help their community by volunteering their time at a variety of charity events.

As an Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to a 2012 Sky regular season home game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the worlds best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognize their accomplishments.

The Sky will recognize a new High School Team of the Week award winner every week until February 17, 2012. To nominate a team for the Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week, click here. The Sky will accept nominations from parents, coaches, faculty members, and players.
