Carmel Catholic Named Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week

The Carmel Catholic School varsity Girls Basketball team is a diverse group with seniors, juniors and sophomores but when they come together as the Carmel Corsairs they are the definition of a team, supporting each other on and off the court. The Corsairs, an IHSA Class 3A team, compiled a record of 12-10 and beat Benet Academy in their playoff game. It is off the court that the Carmel Corsairs have made the most noise. Led by senior Madeline Felipez, the Corsairs are working to increase fan support & interest in girls sports at Carmel Catholic School and recently hosted a hugely successful Pack the Place event when Carmel hosted a Friday night girls basketball game for what is believed to be the first time in school history. Felipez and her teammates spearheaded the efforts to market the event and were rewarded with band members, cheerleaders and a huge crowd. The Corsairs will continue to fight for their cause and hope that they can assist with increasing fan support for the other girls sports teams at Carmel.

As an Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to a 2012 Sky regular season home game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the worlds best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognize their accomplishments.

The Sky will recognize a new High School Team of the Week award winner every week until February 22, 2012. To nominate a team for the Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week, click here. The Sky will accept nominations from parents, coaches, faculty members, and players.
