Jimmy Johns Freaky Fast 500 Race For Charity

The Sky spent their lunch hour on October 24 participating in the Freaky Fast 500, a charity race presented by Jimmy John's, in an attempt to raise money for the Sky Cares Foundation.

Representatives from the Chicago White Sox, American Heart Association and other local organizations went head-to-head in a relay featuring big wheels and Jimmy John's sandwiches! In order to win the race, each of the five team members had to pedal one lap around the race course on their big wheel, and then devour a Jimmy Johns sandwich in its entirety before the next member start.

Sky Guy got the Sky off to an early lead as he finished the course in lightning bolt speed and then ate his sandwich almost as fast as you can say Lets Go Sky!

The remaining four Sky staff members who participated in the event, including Assistant Coach Stephanie White, were able to hold the lead and appeared to win the event in dominating fashionwhat else would you expect! However, after the judges got together, they ruled that the Sky had not entirely eaten one of their sandwiches, which handed the win to the White Sox.

The winner of the race was not nearly as important as the overall goal of the event. Each company aligned itself with a charity of choice and pledged a $500 donation. The Sky raced to support Sky Cares. For more information on Sky Cares, please click here. Jimmy John's matched each donation, and the winning team's charity received the total amount pledged. The White Sox will also receive a free catered meal from Jimmy John's every month for a year!

Thank you for all of those in attendance who came out to show their support for the Sky! We hope our ghoulish faces didnt scare any of you away from all of the fun.
