In her third year playing internationally, Jacki Gemelos played for Perfumerias Avenida in Spain who won the Liga Femenina Championship for the fourth time in team history. Avenida finished in the top spot of the Liga Femenina standings with a 25-1 record. Gemelos averaged 10.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in the Liga Femenina. Avenida competed in the EuroLeague and came in seventh place (4-10).


Update: April 14, 2016

Turnovers were key in Avenida’s 72-60 victory over Girona in Game 1 of the Liga Femenina Finals on April 13. Girona turned in 22 mishaps, which was double the amount of turnovers committed by the home team. Avenida recorded a team total of 11 steals, as well. Although Avenida only had three players who scored in double figures, the team went on an offensive spree in the fourth quarter after being down by 9 at the end of the third quarter. Avenida outscored Girona in the final period 26-5, which ultimately led to the defeat. Gemelos contributed three points and four rebounds in the first contest. Avenida will face Girona in Game 2 on April 17.



Update: April 4, 2016

In the first game of playoffs on March 30, Avenida dominated Mann-Filter from the opening tip. After the first quarter Avenida led 29-13 and held Mann-Filter to to 35 percent from the field. Gemelos had eight points and two rebounds in the 78-55 victory. Avenida secured its spot in the Liga Femenina Finals after defeating Mann-Filter on April 2, 88-63. Gemelos recorded 10 points and six rebounds. Avenida will face Girona for the title.



Update: March 30, 2016

Avenida (25-1) ended the Liga Femenina regular season in the top position after defeating Girona 90-80 on March 26. Gemelos chipped in 14 points and five rebounds in the victory. Avenida will face fourth-ranked Mann-Filter in Liga Femenina semifinals on March 30.



Update: March 24, 2016

Avenida continued their winning ways with their 79-66 win over Uni Ferrol on March 19. Gemelos posted nine points in 25 minutes played. On March 23, Gemelos scored 15 points to help Avenida to a 75-59 victory over Bembibre. Avenida will play its final regular season game on Saturday, March 26 against third-placed Girona.



Update: March 14, 2016

Avenida defeated Campus Promete 67-46 on March 5. Avenida was able to hold Campus Promete to just eight points in the third quarter and outscored them 37-21 in the final two quarters. Gemelos was scoreless in the win, but tallied five assists. In the following week’s game, Gemelos provided a spark for Avenida as they topped eighth-ranked Quesos El Pastor Polvoro 83-75. She scored 15 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Avenida remains the top team in the Liga Femenina with a 22-1 record.



Update: March 2, 2016

Gemelos’ 15 points, six rebounds and five assists were more than enough for Perfumerias Avenida to coast to a 102-48 win over Cref Hola. Avenida set the tone early by outscoring Cref Hola 27-14 in the first quarter then held them to just nine points in the third.



Update: February 13, 2016

Avenida competed for the Queen Cup last week. Avenida topped Spar Girona 68-60 on February 6, but fell to C.B. Conquero 60-52 in the title game. In EuroLeague play, Avenida dropped a much needed win against Dynamo Kursk on February 10. The team shot 13 percent from the three-point line compared to Kursk’s 56 percent. Gemelos scored 11 points in the contest. Avenida needed at least one win in its final two games in order to advance to the EuroLeague Quarter-Finals. However, Avenida captured another win in its domestic league on February 13 against IDK Gipuzkoa. Gemelos was Avenida’s second-leading rebounder in the contest with five boards.


Update: February 2, 2016

Avenida slid to its 17th win in the Liga Feminina on January 30 against Mann-Filter. The host team kept the lead through the whole game and finished 20 points ahead of Mann-Filter. Gemelos assisted in the win with nine points and 4 assists. Avenida could not carry the success into its EuroLeague game on February 3 against Galatasaray. Galatasaray defeated Avenida 62-49; Gemelos had nine points and four rebounds. Avenida will enter competition for the Queen Cup on February 6 when they oppose Spar Girona. Avenida was the 2015 Champions of the Queen Cup.



Update: January 27, 2016

Avenida skated past Gran Canaria on January 23. The thirteenth-ranked team in the Liga Femenina was no match for the top team in the rankings. Gemelos scored 13 points in Avenida’s 99-66 victory. Avenida faced top EuroLeague foe Fenerbahce on January 27 in Istanbul. The visitors kept Fenerbahce within its reigns, holding the lead through the second and third quarters. Fenerbahce evened the score 57-57 with 3:22 remaining in the game and went on a 6-0 run, which capped the game for the hosts. Gemelos contributed eight points and three rebounds in the matchup against Sky teammate Allie Quigley who finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.



Update: January 20, 2016

Sixth-placed Avenida (4-7) topped EuroLeague opponent Uniqa Sopron (1-10) 74-60 on January 13. Gemelos scored six points, grabbed three rebounds and had two blocked shots. Both teams were tied through the first and second quarters, but Avenida used their home court advantage to explode in the final half of the game. Avenida outscored Uniqa Sopron 23-10 in the third quarter, which drove their lead to 60-47 at the end of the third quarter. In its weekly Liga Femenina game, Avenida thumped Rioja Anares 94-36 on January 16. Avenida opened the game hot, building up a 22-point lead in the first quarter. In what was an embarrassing game, Avenida kept its visiting opponent to scoring just two points in the second quarter and led 49-13 at the half. Gemelos contributed three points and five rebounds. On January 20, Avenida defeated Famila Schio (7-4) 63-52 in a EuroLeague matchup. This marked the first time this season that Avenida won back-to-back EuroLeague games. Gemelos scored three points and had seven rebounds and six assists.



Update: January 5, 2016

In its first game off of break, Avenida conquered CB Conquero in a Liga Femenina matchup on January 3. Gemelos pulled down nine rebounds and had eight points along with it. Avenida is 13-1 in the Spanish League and remains in first place.



Update: December 21, 2015

Avenida is on a 12-game winning streak in the Liga Femenina. The team is in first place and has the best record (12-1) in the league. On December 19, Avenida defeated Girona 74-51 and Gemelos contributed seven points and four rebounds. Avenida will resume play on January 3, 2016.



Update: December 16, 2015

Avenida went 2-0 this week. On December 12, the team defeated Pajariel Bembibre 70-50. Gemelos scored five points in the Liga Femenina matchup. Avenida is in first place in the league with an 11-1 record. Avenida secured an important EuroLeague win against Good Angels Kosice on December 16. Avenida hosted Good Angels Kosice and finished on top 76-68. Gemelos scored seven points and Avenida has a 2-6 record in the EuroLeague.



Update: December 9, 2015

In a Liga Femenina matchup against Uni-Star on December 5, Avenida dominated with an 84-59 win. Gemelos scored nine points and totaled six assists. Avenida had a strong first quarter against Dynamo Kursk on December 9 but dug a hole in the second quarter that they could not overcome. Though nearly every player contributed offensively, only two Avenida players scored in double figures. Gemelos finished with seven points and three assists.



Update: December 2, 2015

Avenida returned from break with force. Avenida showed no mercy on Cheese Pastor in a Spanish League matchup, taking down the host 92-57 on November 29. Gemelos was close to recording her first double-double; she finished with 14 points and nine rebounds. Avenida dropped to a 1-4 record in the EuroLeague after a 61-59 upset at Galatasaray. Gemelos scored two points and gathered three rebounds.


Update: November 17, 2015

Gemelos took on Sky teammate Allie Quigley on November 11 in Spain. Avenida was ahead for the first three quarters, but Fenerbahce lit the fourth quarter on fire. Fenerbahce outscored its host 26-12 in the fourth quarter and traveled back to Turkey with a 75-70 win in EuroLeague action. In its second home game of the week, Avenida maintained a lead over Campus Promises at the end of each quarter on November 14. It was an even matchup and Campus Promises hung close, but Avenida succeeded 67-60 with its home court advantage despite just five points from Gemelos. The team will be on break until November 29.



Update: November 10, 2015

On November 5, Avenida suffered an 18-point loss to Famila Schio on the road. Gemelos struggled to find her rhythm as she shot 1-for-9 (.111) from the field and 1-for-6 (.167) from the three-point line. She finished with two points and four rebounds. Avenida bounced back from its 88-70 EuroLeague loss to defeat Cadi La Seu in Spanish League play on November 7. Gemelos scored 15 points and recorded five rebounds and five assists in the victory. Gemelos is currently eighth in the EuroLeague in steals per game (2.3).




Update: November 03, 2015

Avenida traveled to Hungary for a EuroLeague matchup against Uniqa Sopron on October 28. Avenida became buried in a 21-point hole but fought to gain an advantage over its opponent. Six minutes into the fourth quarter, Gemelos scored a layup, which gave Avenida its first lead. Despite leading 66-64 with a little over two minutes remaining in the game, Avenida dropped 73-67 in the end. Gemelos totaled 14 points, four rebounds and two steals in the contest. Gemelos contributed four points and six assists in Avenida’s 82-66 win over C.R.E.F on October 31. Gemelos is sixth in the EuroLeague in steals per game (2.7).




Update: October 28, 2015

Avenida shined last week, winning both games played by more than 20 points. In EuroLeague competition, Gemelos posted 10 points and six rebounds to help Avenida to a 23-point victory over ESBVA-LM on October 21. In a back-to-back win, Gemelos recorded 12 points and seven rebounds as Avenida won 83-56 against IDK Gipuzkoa. Gemelos is currently ranked sixth in EuroLeague in steals per game (3.0) and eighth in free throw percentage (.857).


Update: October 20, 2015

Perfumerias Avenida was unsuccessful in the team’s EuroLeague opener on October 14, taking a 66-47 loss to Good Angels Kosice. Gemelos scored 10 points and gathered four steals. On October 18, Avenida recorded its fourth Spanish League win over Mann-Filter. Gemelos’ 20 points and seven rebounds helped Avenida to a 71-58 win.
