Erika de Souza, a Brazil-native, played for America Recife in Brazil. The team advanced to the LBF Semifinals and was eliminated in the third game of the series. She averaged 13.9 points and 12.6 rebounds. She recorded 10 consecutive double-doubles and 12 overall. She played for Adana Aski in Turkey for the first half of the season and averaged 11.5 points and 7.1 rebounds in 15 games. She spent a month with the Brazil National Team in preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics alongside Sky teammate Clarissa Dos Santos.


Update: April 14, 2016

In Game 1 of the LBF Semifinals on April 9, America Recife claimed the victory over Sampaio Correa. In what was a low-scoring game, the score teetered between both teams. America Recife skimmed past the guests in the final minutes of the game and finished on top 45-43. Erika de Souza struggled offensively, shooting 4-for-13 from the field and 0-for-2 from the free throw line; however, she managed to lead her team in rebounding (9). Sampaio Correa tied the three-game series on April 13 with a 72-65 victory. The teams will play the last Semifinals game this evening.



Update: March 14, 2016

America Recife won three consecutive games behind the power play of Erika de Souza, who has recorded nine straight double-doubles. On March 4, de Souza led America Recife to a tight 68-65 victory over Presidente Venceslau with 20 points and 15 rebounds. She was also the top performer for both teams. The next matchup between the two teams was an easier battle for the host America Recife as they defeated Presidente Venceslau, 66-45. On March 12, de Souza stepped up with a big performance against fourth placed Maranhao. She collected 20 of the team’s 34 rebounds and scored 19 points. The three-game winning streak was broken on March 14 as America Recife fell to Maranhao 68-63. The team was led by de Souza’s 16 points and 17 rebounds.



Update: March 2, 2016

After posting back-to-back double-doubles and the best efficiency rating in last week’s games, de Souza was named LBF Player of the Week. She averaged 13.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in two games. America Recife (11-3) went 1-1 over the weekend against opponent Sampaio Correa (11-3). In the 79-76 victory on February 28, de Souza recorded a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. America Recife was able to pull out the win despite getting outscored in the second half. On February 29, de Souza’s team-high double-double was no factor as America Recife was defeated on the road, 73-53. America Recife is tied for second place with an 11-3 record.



Update: February 23, 2016

In America Recife’s (10-2) 86-63 win over Saint Andrew (2-12) on February 21, de Souza was the team’s top performer. She recorded a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds and had the highest efficiency rating on her team for that game (23). The following day, de Souza was America Recife’s top contributor with another double-double. She scored 10 points and tallied 15 rebounds in a close match against Saint Andrew. The host team pulled away with a 57-52 victory and is tied for first place with two teams.



Update: February 10, 2016

In the second half of the season, de Souza returns to her homeland to play in Brazil’s LBF. America Recife (8-2) split last week’s two-game series against Corinthians. On February 4, America Recife dropped a close matchup after making a second half comeback from a 15-point deficit. De Souza collected 11 rebounds for the home team. On February 5, America Recife showed no mercy on its opponent and topped Corinthians 90-67. More production was shown by the veteran de Souza who had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. America Recife is in second place in LBF.



Update: January 5, 2016

Adana dropped all three of its Turkish League games over the last two weeks, all within a small margin. On December 27, Adana fell to Edirne 76-64, a game in which de Souza recorded 12 points and seven rebounds. On December 30 versus Mersin BSB, Adana fell 75-65; the team saw its third consecutive loss on January 2 against Botas. De Souza contributed 13 points and eight rebounds. Adana is currently in last place in the KBSL ladder.



Update: December 23, 2015

Adana lost both of its games this week to the top two teams in the league. On December 19, AGU Spor got the best of Adana with an 83-68 victory. De Souza scored four points and had four rebounds. On December 23, Adana was no match for Fenerbahce who topped the home team 93-69. Adana will continue in Turkish League action while taking a break in EuroCup competition.



Update: December 16, 2015

Sparta&K entered the game on December 10 in attack mode against Adana; they opened the first five minutes of the game with a 14-6 run on the visiting Adana. By halftime, Adana was down 51-40, a deficit that grew to 72-48 at the end of the third quarter. In the end, the hosts came out on top 91-70. Erika de Souza scored six points for Adana. Adana snapped its three-game losing streak on December 16 with a 91-82 win over Besiktas. In yet another matchup against Sky teammate Cappie Pondexter, de Souza scored nine points.


Update: December 8, 2015

Dominating de Souza carried Adana to victory on December 6 against Istanbul Universitesi. She recorded a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds in the 80-63 victory. De Souza is ranked seventh in the Turkish League in rebounds per game (9.57). Adana is 11th in Turkish League standings.



Update: December 2, 2015

Adana traveled to the capital of Turkey, Ankara on November 28 to play Near East University. Adana dominated the first half of the game; the visitors entered halftime with an 18-point lead. Heading into the final quarter, Adana still maintained the lead 81-65. Near East University tried to grab the win but they could not. They succumbed to Adana 95-85. Erika de Souza contributed seven points and two rebounds in the victory. On December 2, Adana fell 72-63 to Piestanske Cajky. Adana is currently in last place in the EuroCup.



Update: November 17, 2015

In her second matchup against Sky teammate Cappie Pondexter, de Souza recorded eight rebounds and two points in Adana’s 87-70 loss to Besiktas on November 11. Adana bounced back on November 14 with de Souza’s dominance against teammate Courtney Vandersloot. De Souza recorded a double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds. She is third in the Turkish League in rebounds per game (10.8).


Update: November 10, 2015

Adana came back from a 12-point deficit to having a one-point advantage over Sparta&K Moscow on November 4. However, they could not hold on to the lead and tumbled 73-67. Erika de Souza ended the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Adana dropped its second win of the week against Cappie Pondexter and Besiktas on November 8. Pondexter gathered 14 points and nine assists in and de Souza recorded four points and nine rebounds as Adana fell 83-77. Adana is 0-4 in the Turkish League and is in last place.


Update: November 03, 2015

Last week, Adana signed Riquna Williams of the Tulsa Shock/Dallas Wings as a member of the team. Adana pulled away with an 87-62 win over Pieštanské Cajky in the October 28 road game. De Souza contributed eight points and 10 rebounds. On October 31, Adana was defeated 82-68 by Galatasaray who was led by WNBA Rookie of the Year Jewell Loyd’s 26 points. De Souza added 10 points and seven rebounds for Adana.

De Souza’s 17 point, 12 rebound double double was not enough for Adana to pull away with a win. Adana fell to BGD 87-72 on October 24.


Update: October 20, 2015

In their Turkish League game on October 17, Adana Aski fell 76-69 to Canik Bld at home. Erika de Souza led Adana Aski with 24 points and was the team’s top rebounder with nine rebounds.
