With the help of the Chicago Sky partners, the Magellan Corporation and Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, the sold-out Sky High Hoops Clinics were successful. On Wednesday, August 17 and Thursday, August 18, Sky Assistant Coaches Christie Sides and Jonah Herscu and Video Coordinator Jessie Miller led boys and girls ages 7-14 through various drills to improve their basketball skills at Rosemont Recreation Center.
Allie Quigley, Jamierra Faulkner, Jessica Breland and Tamera Young taught fundamentals to nearly 100 young athletes, including nineteen children from the Hoops in the Hood organization and Beyond the Ball Girls Program who were sponsored by the Sky Cares Foundation to participate in the clinics. Also, participants competed in several basketball competitions to win Sky prizes.
Sky High Hoops focuses on introducing youth to basic basketball principles and cultivating their love for the game. The kids received one ticket to Friday’s game, as well as a Sky High Hoops t-shirt for their hard work and participation.
The Chicago Sky will take on the Atlanta Dream with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. CT. Call 866.SKY.WNBA or visit CHICAGOSKY.NET to purchase your tickets.
