Through a renewed partnership with Rivers Casino, the Chicago Sky will bring its “Hoops for Health” program to 12 schools in Des Plaines and the surrounding communities during the 2016 spring and fall seasons. Each of the schools, selected by Rivers Casino, will enjoy an interactive school assembly program led by the Chicago Sky’s Health and Wellness team.
“Rivers Casino is committed to giving back to the Chicagoland area,” said Rivers Casino Assistant General Manager Corey Wise. “We’re proud to partner with the Chicago Sky and Hoops for Health to promote the positive message of wellness within our community.”
Hoops for Health is the Sky’s comprehensive health and wellness platform that encourages physical activity and healthy living for children and families. During the assemblies, Sky Guy assisted by Sky staff members emphasizes the importance of proper nutrition and fitness and exercise techniques through fun, interactive competitions.
Each participant will receive a Hoops for Health Assembly Booklet presented by Rivers Casino to further engage students on how to implement healthy lifestyle practices at home and in their everyday life. Additionally, all students will receive one ticket to a 2016 Chicago Sky home game courtesy of Rivers Casino.
“We are excited to partner with Rivers Casino on this initiative for a second consecutive season,” said Chicago Sky Vice President of Marketing and Community Partnership Jim Burda. “We share a common mission to teach area youth that it’s possible to maintain a lifestyle and still have fun!”
