The Chicago Sky is hosting its 2nd Annual #RedefinePossible Women’s Leadership Brunch presented by Walgreens on Wednesday, April 26 from 9:15 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Allstate Arena Skyline Room. The #RedefinePossible Women’s Leadership brunch brings together some of the brightest, emerging and established female leaders in Chicago to highlight the growth of women’s leadership in business, community and sports and their role in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The women attending the brunch embody the Sky’s mission to identify positive role models who lead in the Chicagoland community. Additionally, the event will highlight small businesses owned by women, veterans and minorities.
“Walgreens has a commitment to promote and partner with diverse and small business suppliers and to help such enterprises grow,” says Rona Fourte, Director of Supplier Diversity at Walgreens. “And we further these efforts through our valued partnership with the Chicago Sky.”
The #RedefinePossible Brunch presented by Walgreens, kicks off the Sky Cares annual celebration of the Inspiring Women platform. In addition to the brunch, fourteen women will be honored with the #RedefinePossible Women’s Leadership Award at Sky home games this summer. The Sky will also host the Women’s Mentoring Luncheon Series throughout the year featuring 2016 Award honorees and young, emerging female executives.
“As the premiere women’s professional sports team in Chicago, we are fortunate to not only house world class athletes, but to be driven by world class female business leaders who recognize the importance of an inclusive environment on and off the court,” said Jim Burda, Chicago Sky Vice President of Sponsorship Marketing. “Companies like Walgreens, the presenting sponsor of the #RedefinePossible Brunch, take the lead in our market in elevating the National Diversity Supply Chain while providing an example in their own infrastructure of ingenuity and diversity.”
A roundtable panel discussion will be held focusing on the growth of female leadership, the importance of mentorship, ways to structure and promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace and how we can continue to redefine leadership for women in business and community. Following the discussion, attendees will have the chance to engage in a question and answer session with the panel before closing statements from the Chicago Sky and Walgreens. The panelists are:
• Moderator: Margaret Stender, Minority Owner of the Chicago Sky
• Panelist 1: Sarah Cannon Foster, Divisional Vice-President HR-Walgreens
• Panelist 2: Erin Harvego, VP of Marketing Big Ten Network
• Panelist 3: Pamela Mazza, Principal, Chief Human Resources Officer Avison Young
