Several members of the Chicago Sky are crossing the waters and heading to other countries in the offseason. Four players have the opportunities to play in Turkey and one will compete in France. Check in here every Monday for game recaps, updates and photos of your favorite players overseas.
Allie Quigley will return to Istanbul for her second consecutive season playing for the reigning KBSL Champion Fenerbahçe. The club finished in first place last year in both the domestic league and the EuroLeague Group A. For the last two years, Fenerbahçe has advanced to the EuroLeague Final 4. Seattle Storm’s Shekinna Stricklen will join Quigley on Fenerbahçe.
Courtney Vandersloot enters her third offseason in Istanbul, this year playing for Yakin Dogu Üniversitesi (translates to Near East University). YDU advanced to the Turkish Cup Semifinals in 2016. The team will compete in both the KBSL and the EuroCup. Former Seattle Storm center Quanitra Hollingsworth will play alongside Vandersloot.
Jamierra Faulkner will play for Mersin MBK in Turkey this offseason. Last year, Faulkner played for Elitzur Holon and was the Israeli League’s top scorer (20.4 ppg) and assists leader (6.4 apg). Former WNBA player Michelle Snow will join Faulkner. Mersin MBK will compete in the KBSL.
Cheyenne Parker begins her first season in Turkey, playing for Mersin BSB along with Marissa Coleman of the Indiana Fever. Parker spent the last offseason in China playing for Henan Yichuan where she averaged 26.1 points and 14.1 rebounds (top rebounder in WCBA). Mersin BSB will play in the KBSL and EuroLeague.
Clarissa Dos Santos will spend the offseason playing for Tango Bourges in France. Bourges was the French SuperCup winner in 2015 and French Cup Finalist for the last two years. Dos Santos will compete in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball (LFB) and the EuroLeague.
