The Chicago Sky opened their 2018 preseason with back-back contests against the Atlanta Dream and the Indiana Fever, falling in both games to begin training camp with an 0-2 record.
General manager and head coach Amber Stocks kept rotations short throughout the game on Sunday as no starters played more than 17 minutes.
Third-year forward Cheyenne Parker led the Sky off the bench with 13 points on 4-for-10 shooting while adding eight rebounds.
The game were close after the first quarter before the Dream opened up a 12-point lead heading into halftime. Chicago struggled offensively in the second quarter and shot 5-for-19 from the field, equating to 26.3 percent.
The Sky shot 3-for-16 in the fourth quarter and fell by a final score of 78-61 to open up the preseason.
All-Star guard Tiffany Hayes had it going for the Dream, as she finished the game with a team-high 16 points on 5-for-6 shooting.
The Sky hit the road for the first time this season and lost 79-65 to a rebuilding Indiana Fever squad.
The Fever won every quarter as the Sky was only able to shoot just under 35 percent from the field for the contest.
Parker and third-year guard Kahleah Copper led the Sky in scoring off the bench with 10 points apiece.
The Fever got a solid game from second-year guard Alexis Peterson, who shot 10-for-10 from the free-throw line in route to a game-high 17 points.
The Fever shot 29 free throws in the game, compared to nine by the Sky. Indiana led the league in free-throw shooting in 2017 at 89.7 percent.
Stocks made some lineup changes as guard Ameryst Alston got the start in the second half of the back-to-back over guard Chelsea Hopkins. Alston finished with two points in 18 minutes.
Gabby Williams, the Sky’s No. 4 overall selection in the recent 2018 WNBA Draft, struggled in her first in-game action as she went a combined 0-for-7 and failed to score a point in either game.
2017 All-Star Center Stefanie Dolson finished with 10 points on Sunday and seven points on Monday in limited action to begin the preseason.
The Sky will wrap up the preseason with a visit to Maya Moore, 2017 finals MVP Sylvia Fowles and Minnesota Lynx at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 before the regular season begins on May 19 with a rematch against the Fever.
