Turkish basketball club Orduspor recently added a post player to its roster that it desperately needed. In late January, Orduspor signed Sky center Clarissa Dos Santos, who was expected to provide a much-needed lift for the club.
In her first game with the team on January 30, Dos Santos recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. And posted another double-double the following week with 15 points and 10 rebounds. She was the top rebounder of both contests. Orduspor, whose roster included Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot during the first half of the Women’s Basketball Super League (KBSL) season, is currently 4-14.
Dos Santos has an impressive international resume. So far, she has earned a bronze medal at the 2011 Pan American Games and a gold medal at the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship with the Brazilian National Team. In addition, she helped Brazil to back-to-back gold medals in the South American Championships (2013 and 2014) and was named Most Valuable Player of Brazil’s LBF in 2014.
Furthermore, Dos Santos has participated in the 2012 Olympic Games, in which she led all participants in the rebounds category. This summer, Dos Santos will play for the Brazil National Team in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Before signing with Orduspor, Dos Santos played for Corinthians/American in Brazil’s LBF. She also spent a month with the Brazil National Team preparing for the 2016 Rio Olympics and had 18 points and 10 rebounds in the Rio Olympic Test on January 17.
