Buffalo Grove Bison Named Chicago Sky High School Team of the Week

The Chicago Sky has selected Buffalo Grove High School as the final winner of its 2016 “High School Team of the Week” program. They receive the recognition after being nominated for their accomplishments on the court, in the classroom and in the community.

Buffalo Grove won its third consecutive regional title after clinching the Mid-Suburban League East Division title. The Bison, who went undefeated in divisional competition, finished the regular season with a 24-5 overall record. One of the team’s biggest accomplishments this season was advancing to the IHSA sectional semifinals.

The players have also been successful in the classroom with a 4.7 team grade point average. The Bison give back to the community by hosting a youth basketball camp for local children in the summer. Additionally, the student-athletes donate a percentage of money collected in its annual fundraiser to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

As a Chicago Sky “High School Team of the Week” award winner, the Buffalo Grove Bison are invited to enjoy a Chicago Sky game, where they will have the opportunity to watch the world’s best female basketball players. At halftime of the game, the team will be honored at center court.

Buffalo Grove joins George Washington, Trinity, Elgin, Plainfield South, Stevenson, Christ the King, Peoria High, Bartlett and Universal High as “High School Team of the Week” award winners. Each winning team will be entered to win the “High School Team of the Year” award for 2016. The winner, determined through online voting, will be announced on May 14, 2016.
