2016 Season Recap: June

The Sky was off to a hot start in June with a three-game winning streak. Elena Delle Donne led the first two games of the month with 18 points. On June 3, the Sky won by the largest margin this season with a 98-72 win over the Mystics. Imani Boyette led the team with a season-high 16 points on June 10 and accomplished her first double-double with 12 rebounds.

In the month of June, Delle Donne accounted for 24.1 percent of the team’s total points with 184 out of 762. In addition, Cappie Pondexter was accredited for 17.2 percent of the team’s total points with 131.

On June 21, Cappie Pondexter was named to the WNBA Top 20@20 presented by Verizon for her influential career. Pondexter is only the seventh player in WNBA history to complete more than 6,000 points in her career. As a game-changer for multiple franchises, she was destined from the start to be recognized for her outstanding accomplishments.

Courtney Vandersloot also broke her career-high record with five steals on June 24 against the New York Liberty. The Sky lost 80-79 after a hard-fought game, despite Delle Donne scoring her first of three 30-point games of the season.
