2015 Season in Review: Jessica Breland

Jessica Breland was a solid contributor for the Sky in 2015, averaging seven points and six rebounds per game. Coming off of her best season in the WNBA, Breland started in 30 of 33 games and recorded three double-doubles, which made her second on the team with the most double-doubles last season.

During the month of July, Breland scored in double figures in six games. Her best overall game of the season came on July 17 in which she scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against Minnesota. Breland’s presence in the paint helped Chicago to a 5-3 record in July.

Breland was also a big factor in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against Indiana. She averaged 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocks a game. In the three-game series, Breland led the Sky in rebounds (7.7), blocks (2.3) and steals per game (1.3).

The 6’3 forward shot a career-best 77 percent from the free throw line and led Chicago in offensive boards (2.1 per game). She recorded her career-high nine offensive rebounds in the Sky’s 95-72 victory over Indiana on opening night, which she tied in the 74-64 win against Phoenix on August 9. Breland finished the 2015 season second on the team in blocks per game (1.1) and field goal percentage (.471).
