Jacki Gemelos was a highly touted player coming out of high school, where she recorded more than 3,100 career points. She was known for her all-around skill set entering her collegiate career at USC. In her five seasons playing for USC, Gemelos played in 57 games and averaged 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game despite having just one full season under her belt.

Enduring five knee injuries should have kept her down, but Gemelos did not give up. In 2015, she landed a spot on the Sky’s season roster and found herself in a new role. Although she was not always on the floor, her priority was to bring positive energy to the team.

She played in 17 games in her first full season in the WNBA. In Chicago’s 93-65 win over the Seattle Storm on September 6, Gemelos recorded five points, two assists and a steal in eight minutes of floor time. She saw the most minutes on the floor on July 15 when the Sky took down the Washington Mystics 85-57. In 15 minutes, Gemelos shot 2-for-3 from the field and finished with four points.

One of the most notable moments of Gemelos’ WNBA career, thus far, was on July 12 when she scored her first WNBA points, a three-pointer against the Connecticut Sun. “I’ve shot a million three’s in my life,” Gemelos said. “It is just a great, great feeling to hit my first shot.”
